After becoming a mother in November of 2023, I realized giving birth was becoming an increasingly dangerous ordeal. Maternal and infant mortality rates were increasing at an alarming rate and that was especially true in and around the Cleveland area.

Because of this unprecedented crisis, I created, managed, and produced content for a new franchise at my station (WEWS-TV) called “Delivering Better Results.“ These television news stories addressed issues in various communities and seek to highlight some potential solutions that can help mothers and babies survive labor, delivery, and their first year of life together, which are among the most dangerous periods for moms and and their babies.

I was in charge of finding my interview subjects, conducting those interviews, writing the compelling scripts and editing and production of the visuals. I am so proud of my work, which garnered much attention among advocates in this area. I even won an Emmy for the work I managed and produced for this series.
